Block IRL50/6 is located approximately 20 kms north of the Hook Head prospect (IRL50/11-C). The discovery well, IRL50/6-1, was drilled by the then Operator, Gulf Oil in 1985/86, and flowed at a rate of approximately 2,100 BOPD of high quality (44° API) oil. The current in-house work programme which involved the re-analysis of existing seismic data together with a re-evaluation of the petrophysics and drill stem test data from the discovery well suggest that the structure contains potential recoverable reserves of 18MMBO.
