Licence Option 06/1 comprises of 15 exploration blocks located ~300Km offshore SW Ireland.

The exploration potential of the Goban Spur Basin has only been tested by the Esso IRL62/7-1 well, which was drilled in 1982.  A review of the well results have shown that the Mesozoic basins of the Goban Spur have all the characteristics of a petroleum province. 

As part of the Work Programme the partnership acquired 500Km of Long offset 2D Seismic, gravity and magnetics over the area in 2006.  This data is currently being analysed and integrated into geological and geophysical review of the area.
